Sweetwater Rain have only been together for two short years, but the band -- comprised of Danny Rivera, Fred Stallcup and Thomas Hewlett -- has already racked up over 100,000 Youtube views on their single "Starshine." Plus, the trio opened for The Band Perry and Little Big Town on select dates throughout the year. It would seem that such quick success would have inflated their sense of self, but that is not the case. They remain down-home boys simply making the music they love.
The summertime is typically when most artists do the bulk of their touring, and Curb's Lee Brice is no different. To catch up with the hitmaker, Billboard found him rolling down the highway.
"We've got a night off from the Brad Paisley tour, so we're doing a show with Kid Rock and Thomas Rhett tonight," he said. "I've got some writers on the bus, and we're trying to come up with some songs."
Daryn Pittman won the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Boot Hill Showdown finale at Dodge City Raceway Park on Saturday night. Sitting atop the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Championship Standings, the win is Pittman’s sixth in 2013.
Lee Brice’s single “I Drive Your Truck” is now certified Gold. The song was inspired by an NPR interview with the father of a U.S. soldier who was killed in Afghanistan. In May, Lee performed the song at the National Peace Officers Memorial in Washington DC, attended by President Obama.
“I Drive Your Truck” also reached number 1 on the country charts, the 3rd single from Lee’s album ‘Hard 2 Love’ to do so. ‘Hard 2 Love’ has been on the Billboard Top 200 for 50 weeks and Lee is on Brad Paisley’s Beat This Summer tour through August: http://leebrice.com/tour
